Mahabharat... Centuries ago, it was proclaimed about Mahabharat "If it is not in it, it's nowhere". Yet, how little we know of it. Dr K M Munshi, Kula Pati of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan once commented about Mahabharat "He who knows it not, knows not about the heights and depths of Soul. He misses the trials and tragedy and the beauty and grandeur of Life".
It is sad to notice that most of us think of it as a war story. In fact, over the period the word "Mahabharat" is colloquially used for fighting. It is common to hear people say "There is Mahabharat (read fighting) going on between them. Is Mahabharat only a story of war? What is it about, and why was it not given its rightful place in literature or even in homes like Dharm Granth? For decades, it was said that keeping Mahabharat at home would lead to conflicts in the household. Should there be a need to know, learn and understand this greatest epic of all times?
